Do something, even if it's wrong

This is a stack of cut and split firewood.

A mistake of action is preferable to a mistake of inaction. You can evaluate the result, adjust your strategy, and fine-tune your approach, if first you act.

You've got to put in some wood if you want heat to come out of a woodstove. I can't tell you how many meetings I've been in where each side is content to sit in front of the woodstove and shiver, waiting for the other party to feed the fire. The fact is, no manufacturer/distributor relationship is perfect. We've all got some unseasoned wood in our pile. Not enough leads? Wet wood. Mind-share a bit lacking? Wet wood. Not every piece of firewood has to be perfect. To start a fire, what do you need? A couple of small pieces of dry kindling. Once the fire is burning, you can put in the larger logs, and once it's hot you can even burn some wet wood.

Waiting for the perfect partner? Good luck.

Do your research, find somebody you think you can trust, and make a mutual commitment to feeding the fire. If you're being honest with each other, the heat will come.
